ISECN in Thailand 2013: We need your input!

ISECN members are planning a sub-plenary session for the IUHPE World Conference in 2013. We have decided to focus on the conference theme, “Best Investments for Health,” by fostering a discussion around the varying perspectives on exactly what is the BEST investment for health. Please join the discussion now, which will culminate in a conference discussion using the “pecha kucha” method (

We ask you now to reflect and respond to the following:

  1. What do you think are the best investments for health that we should focus on?
  2. What are some ways to foster discussion around this topic?

Please join us in this planning by leaving your suggestions and ideas here! The discussion will close on Sunday, July 8th. For more information or questions, please send Emily Fisher a facebook message or contact her via email.

  1. Hello! As health and well-being are strongly influenced by a variety of social determinants of health and the foundations for well-being are laid during early childhood, I think that some of the best investments for health are integrated welfare services for families with children. These include 1) affordable early education, 2) kindergarten/school health services, 3) family centres, 4) social services etc.. I still have to think about creative ways to start a discussion about that. However, I assume that the real experts will sit right there in the room: future and current parents with unique needs/experiences in their respective countries and local settings… I’ll come back as soon as I have a good idea :)
